Our Team of Engineers and Business Consultants

Tri Axle Group was formed by engineers, access facilitators and technical officers previously employed at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Evan Courtney
Civil Engineer
Evan is a Civil Engineer with over 4 and a half years of experience in the road access division and Performance Based Standards (PBS) team at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR). He is an accredited PBS Certifier.
He started Tri Axle Group in 2020 because he noticed the industry was underserviced for quality advice for PBS and access knowledge.
Evan’s wealth of knowledge of road access opportunities from his time in vehicle access, the performance based standards (PBS) process and advantages to the heavy vehicle industry gives Evan the ability to advise your transport company to achieve a strategic edge.
In his spare time he enjoys running, touch football, gym and playing guitar.

Callum Purvis
Heavy Vehicle Engineer
Callum is a Mechanical Engineer with experience in the Performance Based Standards (PBS) team of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR). He is also an accredited PBS Certifier. Prior to that, he worked in transport hydraulics, sales, and workshop engineering.
He has been involved in projects such as market research for transport options of petrochemical supply into Australian mining operations, which has provided him with a solid understanding of the Australian freight task.
During his time at NHVR, Callum built solid relationships with industry and customers and felt the desire to better expand those outside of the regulator.
In his free time, he enjoys swimming (coaching and swimming), hitting the gym, and playing his music

Joel Johnston
Business Consultant
Joel is a Business Consultant for Tri Axle Group with almost 4 years of experience at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. Much of this time was in the Access division which provided him with a firm understanding of the notices, permits and schemes governing heavy vehicle road access for general freight vehicles and performance based standards.
After proving his logistical knowledge, he was promoted to a Technical Officer in the Performance Based Standards team where he administered Vehicle Approvals and played a major hand in shaping policy.
Joel enjoys handyman work, playing soccer and is an avid hobbyist mechanic regularly pulling apart and putting back together one of his many cars.
