Oversize and Overmass (OSOM)

Class 1 Vehicles

Moving a swimming pool, a house, a mining site generator, a wind turbine for a wind power project or most other indivisible items you’ll need a Class 1 permit.

Oversized and/or overmass vehicles, agricultural vehicles, trailers and most special purpose vehicles (SPV) that don’t comply with mass, dimension or operating requirements on a gazette notice or are coming off the networks covered under the relevant notice will require a Class 1 permit.

There is a substantial amount involved with a Class 1 (OSOM) movement as the following requirements need to be considered:

  • Combination requirements
  • Third party approvals.
  • Pilot and Escort requirements.
  • Police authority and escorting.
  • IAP, TMA or RIM and other telematic requirements.
  • Traffic Management Plans (TMPs)
  • Route Assessments for bridges, culverts & swept paths.
  • Route specifics due to potential physical impossibilities
(you might need to take a different road).
  • Time constraints for Road Managers to assess each case.
  • Load Safety, ensuring your load securely fastened.
  • Warning lights, flags, delineators and oversize signs.
  • Vehicle loading, including site assessments

Class 1 vehicle applications were slowly transitioned across from State authorities and are now the most in demand applications from customers to road managers and NHVR staff to process. This can lead to delays. Poorly made applications can lead to even further delays. We’ve got the experience to ensure quality in your applications.
